The Institution was established as a center for excellence in the provision of tertiary education responsive for Agriculture, Business and Technical Training as its Niche.
The Institution is dedicated to fostering an academic community in which the learning of every member may flourish, with vigilant protection for individual human rights, and a resolute commitment to the principles of Equity, Equal Opportunity, and Justice.

Nationally, the quality of the Institute services and products are controlled by the Uganda Business and Technical Examination Board, National Council for Higher Education and the Governing Council of FIMAT under the universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act.2001. Amended 2006.
The Institute is a private Tertiary Institution classified and registered by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) No. TI.C&R 0024.
